Who are We?
British Democratic Alliance was originally formed in 2019 as Brexit Direct Action (no connection to the Facebook group bearing the same name)
Originally our movement was very much ‘below the parapet’ – for several reasons. We attracted huge media attention, some good, but the anti-Brexit BBC, hostile newspapers and other mainstream media broadcasters were, as you can imagine, out to bring us down. They failed miserably, we kept our low profile, preserved our dignity and soldiered on to victory.
Many of our original members stood down after Brexit was finally achieved. They had given their all and some a small fortune to the cause and we shall be forever grateful for that. However, there is a related cause that requires our attention right now. The Brexit dividend is being squandered by our current government and Parliament. We must capitalise on our new-found freedoms and sovereignty and the current two party system isn’t going to give us the independent, confident and prosperous Great Britain we had all hoped for.
What have you achieved?
Initially, we campaigned for Brexit. Synchronising with many other activists to ‘Get Brexit Done!’ Our Twitter account has over 27,000 loyal followers (and a few anti-Brexit trolls) We know our various campaigns made an impact, we won and we contributed to that win along with many other Pro-Brexit groups. Our website and forum (now closed) coordinated hundreds of campaigns, events and recruitment initiatives and helped fund some excellent results.
What happens now?
You have probably noticed since the 2019 General Election that the ‘stonking 80 seat majority’ we gave to Boris Johnson (yes, we only gave it to Boris, because, the majority of the Tory party were remainers) has been abused. Boris is no longer a Tory! His sudden, inexplicable support for the worldwide ‘Climate Emergency hoax’ is not what we signed up for! Boris is being driven by wet Liberals and socialist fiscal policy. He no longer believes in Margaret Thatcher’s Conservative economic values. This current government throw taxpayer’s cash to whichever minority cause shouts loudest. From illegal migrants to the profligate NHS, Boris always caves in and squanders our Brexit dividend.
The current government are not Conservatives, they are weak Tory wets, as Margaret would have labelled them.
And so, we ask our loyal and patriotic Brexiteer friends to come together again and fight for Britain. Yes, it’s a different challenge and in our opinion, far bigger and even more important than Brexit.
Throughout our recent political history, only two movements have actually achieved a complete overhaul of our national politics. In the early 20th century, the Labour Party movement brought about a monumental change for the workers and taxpayers of Britain. The lives of working men and women were improved and are still improving, albeit slowly. But Britain and her parliament was never to be the same again.
UKIP, Nigel Farage and a handful of generous donors achieved a similar, significant political change in 2016, when against all the odds, the establishment elite and mainstream media, we, the people made Brexit happen. It took five years to finally get over the line, we fought our own parliament, the global elites and our national broadcast media, not to mention the Supreme Court, huge industrial and financial institutions and nauseating talking heads. We beat them all because we were resolute, determined and British patriots to the core.
But since Brexit was achieved and at an unnecessary cost to the United Kingdom, which has disenfranchised Northern Ireland, our fishing industry and farmers, we must make the best of what we have. Our terms of Brexit can be improved over time. There are other, more important things to attend to in the next 2 to 3 years.
Our ignorant and ungrateful government has kicked the British public in the face. Using the alleged ‘Covid pandemic’, this administration has forced through unimaginable and illegal legislation to take away our freedoms to protest, speak freely and challenge their increasingly authoritarian attack on our civil rights and liberties. They must be stopped at, or before the next General Election. There is no opposition to the Lib/Lab/Con ideology. That’s where we can make a difference.
There are many minor opposition parties that could represent us, but they are unable or disinterested in forming an alliance of power and influence. They are comfortable to take donations from us and shout from the sidelines. We deserve better. You deserve better and like the Labour Party in 1922 and the Brexit movement in 2015/6, we can and will do what is required to get our country back again.
What’s the plan?
In a perfect world, the easiest way to get the government we all want would be to unite the minor political parties that share our common beliefs and PRO-BRITAIN policies. We strongly believe this is still achievable. It is our primary goal.
But we are also realistic, practical and astute. Therefore we have a plan B!
If the egos and personal differences of these minor parties creates obstacles to unity for us, the people who fund them, we will work with those who can see the benefits of an alliance for the good of our country and marginalise the rest, not matter how important they think they are.
But wait, we have a plan C! Trust us, this would work. In the event of a complete refusal by any of the minority parties to come together and work for us ‘the voters,’ we will form our own party, withdraw our support and donations to them all and move forward with our own candidates, funding ourselves and getting behind our chosen representatives.
That’s why we are drafting a popular policies and election manifesto. It will be your manifesto, agreed and promoted by your chosen candidates from your area. It could even be you! That’s why we need to build our own movement, organise ourselves and be in a position to change the ‘stale politics of Britain‘ if necessary by ourselves, for ourselves.
You can put me down as a candidate for the East Midlands. I’ve contacted you by DM on twitter.
Many thanks Stuart. We received your DM via Twitter and have replied. Looking forward to meeting with you on Monday.
